Abyss is an underground map of Extra Large size, 144 by 144, for Shadow of Death and rated Impossible. Eight players can take part, but only one can be human, and the other seven are computer-controlled. Players form two teams and field Necropolis, Tower, Stronghold, and Conflux armies. Victory comes by constructing a Grail structure or by eliminating every rival, while the game is lost if time runs out after 336 days. Dirt covers about half the terrain, with rock and snow at roughly 17 percent each, rough ground near 8 percent, and only a sliver of water. The map holds 29 towns, 140 mines, 44 creature banks, five monoliths and portals, and the Grail, along with many wandering Wraith stacks.
