1917 is a small 36x36 Shadow of Death map with an underground level, rated Impossible, for two players. Only one can be human, and the Blue side is computer-controlled. There are no teams. Red plays Necropolis and Blue plays Castle. Victory requires capturing a specific town, and the human player loses if a specific hero dies. Most of the land is grass, with a quarter rock and a little under a quarter subterranean, and water is nearly absent. The map holds five towns, 29 mines, five seer huts, and the Grail, along with the Badge of Courage and three random artifacts. Wandering monsters include many peasant stacks and a few archangels, and there is one timed event. The author gave only a brief, cryptic note and no name.
