Africa is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map on a single level, played at Normal difficulty. Up to eight humans can play, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Each player starts with a different town type: Castle, Dungeon, Inferno, Rampart, Tower, Necropolis, Fortress, or Stronghold. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses after losing all towns and heroes. The author describes a struggle for control of a continent that has lasted for centuries. Water covers about 40 percent of the map, with grass, rough ground, and swamp making up much of the rest. Thirty-three towns, 139 mines, and 204 random monster stacks fill the territory. Wandering stacks include a Black Dragon, a Minotaur King, and a Pit Lord. Notable finds include the Bird of Perception and five creature banks.
