Seize the Empire is a large underground map measuring 108 by 108, set at Normal difficulty. A once-great empire has fallen to barbarians, and three neighboring states now compete to take its still-undeveloped lands. Four players take part, with up to three controlled by humans and the Green player handled by the computer, and there are no teams. Tower, Rampart, Inferno, and Stronghold are the factions in play. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers half the terrain, while sand, water, and lava make up much of the rest. Wandering Angels and Ancient Behemoths roam the land, and artifacts such as the Armor of Wonder and Angel Feather Arrows are scattered across it.
