The Great Division is a giant underground map for eight players, all of whom can be human, with no teams and Impossible difficulty. The title translates roughly as "The Great Division." According to the author, the kingdoms of the Weyran archipelago lived in peace for years until the central lands ran short of wealth and food, pushing smaller communities into alliances and campaigns of conquest against their neighbors. Most players start with a pair of factions, and Teal's faction is random. Water covers about 36 percent of the 252 by 252 map, and rock takes up nearly a third. Players win by defeating all enemies and lose when they have no towns or heroes left. Highlights include 47 towns, 25 placed heroes, 356 creature banks, 173 random artifacts, and 62 monoliths and portals.

Królestwa leżące na archipelagu Weyran od lat żyły w pokoju. Jednak nic nie trwa wiecznie. Brak dostępu do bogactw i żywności centralnych ziem popycha pomniejsze społeczności, by zawarły ze sobą sojusze i ruszyły na podbój sąsiadów.
