The Uneasy Alliance is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles, set on normal difficulty, in which two kingdoms unite against an ancient threat. Eight players can all be human, divided into five teams, and the factions in play are Castle, Necropolis, Stronghold, Inferno, Dungeon and Tower. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. Grass, subterranean ground and lava cover most of the terrain, with water making up about nine percent. The map holds seventeen towns, fourteen Arch Mage stacks among its wandering monsters, six creature banks, twenty-one mines and ten monoliths and portals. Dragon Scale Armor and the Tunic of the Cyclops King are placed as artifacts, and one timed event is included.
