The Thinking is an extra-large, single-level map of 144 by 144 tiles for eight players, all of whom may be human, with no teams and an Impossible difficulty setting. Its author describes a earthquake that produced a giant wave and flooded most of the world, leaving only a few highlands above the water. Water covers about 71 percent of the surface, so players must explore the surrounding land, rebuild their ruined towns, and gain control of the sea. Each colour starts with a different faction, from Rampart and Tower to Conflux and Necropolis. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The map holds 16 towns, 77 mines, and a range of guarded dwellings, creature banks, and placed artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade and the Crown of the Supreme Magi.
