The Lakes — RoE

The Lakes is an Extra Large surface map of 144 by 144 tiles, with about a third of its area covered by water and most of the rest grassland, plus some snow and dirt. Its description translates roughly as a call to conquer an entire land of lakes. Eight players can take part, all of them able to be human, with no teams and random factions assigned to each. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. The map holds 19 towns, one pre-placed hero and 106 random monster stacks. Dwellings offer a mix of creatures, including Pikemen, Green Dragons and Devils. The Talisman of Mana, 23 random artifacts, 67 mines, six creature banks, one seer hut and two monoliths or portals add further targets.
