The Darkness Attack is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death, played on a single surface level with no underground. Five colors take part, but only three can be human: Red, Blue and Green, with Teal and Pink left to the computer. The two teams pit Red, Blue and Green against the rest, and each side fields a different town type, from Rampart and Castle to Necropolis and Stronghold. The map is set at Impossible difficulty. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once every town and hero has been removed. Terrain is mostly subterranean ground, rough land, dirt and snow, with no water. Nineteen towns, six placed heroes, nearly nine hundred random monster stacks and a Cloak of the Undead King among the placed artifacts fill the world, along with timed events, mines, creature banks and monoliths.
