The Challenge — RoE

The Challenge is a medium two-player map measuring 72 by 72 tiles, with an underground level and an Expert difficulty rating. Two human players can take part, and no computer-only colors or teams are set up, so each side plays against the other. Players start with random factions. Victory comes from defeating all enemies, and a side loses once it has no towns or heroes left. The land is mostly rock, with dirt, lava and grass making up the rest and only a small share of water. Five towns are spread across the map, guarded by wandering monsters such as wraiths, dread knights and a medusa, along with about ninety random monster stacks. Players can gather artifacts, including several placed Conjuring and Mana items, plus mines, seer huts, creature banks and monoliths and portals.
