Five players share the field, with one human seat at most and four computer-only colors, arranged into two teams. The factions are Inferno, Rampart, Conflux, Tower and Fortress. Victory requires acquiring the Orb of the Firmament, and the game is lost if either Roland or Catherine falls. Their journey continues here with the experience and spells they have gained, and heroes may reach level 26. The landscape is mostly rock, grass, dirt and swamp, with only a little water. The map holds eight towns, 32 mines, 14 seer huts, 79 creature banks and 86 random artifacts, plus six monoliths and portals.
