Summers Steps is an extra-large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles for five players, with four human seats and one computer-only Fortress player in orange, and no fixed teams. The red, blue, tan and green players start with random factions. Victory comes from defeating all enemies, and a player loses once every town and hero is gone. The landscape is mostly water, sand, swamp and rough ground, with water covering about a quarter of the map. Scattered across it are fourteen towns, wandering corsairs, juggernauts, black dragons and phoenixes, dozens of dwellings, and artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade and the Cornucopia. The Grail is also placed on the map. The rating is Expert.
