Shadow of the Life is an extra-large underground map of 144 by 144 tiles for Heroes of Might and Magic III: Shadow of Death, rated Impossible. It supports six players, with only one human player allowed and five computer-controlled colors: Blue, Tan, Green, Orange and Purple, while Red is the human side. The map is split into two teams and each color plays a different faction, from Conflux and Necropolis to Stronghold. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and the game is lost if a specific hero falls. The landscape is mostly rock, dirt, grass and snow, with no water. Scattered across it are 48 towns, 137 mines, 69 creature banks and 17 placed heroes, along with the Grail, a set of named artifacts, and many roaming Power Liches and Griffins.
