Sauron is an extra large Shadow of Death map measuring 144 by 144 tiles, with an underground level. Its premise is that Middle-earth has been long at peace until Sauron returns, and only Aragorn can help drive him out. Four players are placed in two teams, but only one can be human, with the other three seats computer-controlled in Tan, Green, and Orange. Blue and Tan play Castle, Green plays Rampart, and Orange plays Dungeon. The difficulty is Impossible. Victory requires defeating a specific hero, and losing a specific hero ends the game. Rock covers about 46 percent of the terrain and water about a third. The map holds 14 towns, 42 mines, the Grail, and many placed artifacts, and Storm Elementals are the most common wandering stacks.
