Quests and battles — SoD

Quests and battles is a small underground map for Shadow of Death, measuring 36 by 36 tiles. One human player takes the Castle side against a computer-controlled Conflux opponent, and there are no teams. Difficulty is set to Impossible. Water covers about a third of the terrain, with rock, grass and subterranean ground making up most of the rest. The author's note urges speed and care, advises keeping seventh-level creatures, especially Black Dragons, and asks the player to defeat enemy dragons to help a village. Victory requires slaying one specific monster rather than conquering the map, and the game is lost if the 14-day limit runs out. The map contains six towns, thirteen quest guards, monoliths and portals, and wandering stacks including an Azure Dragon and a Power Lich.
