Queen Laurel is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles, played on Normal difficulty. Eight players, all of whom can be human, compete without teams. Tower, Castle, Rampart, Dungeon, Stronghold and Inferno are assigned, with two seats random. The author stresses that freeing the Queen is central and that doing so before rivals is an advantage. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player is eliminated after losing every town and hero. Nine towns, seventeen heroes and several wandering stacks, including an Orc Chieftain and a Cyclops King, are placed, along with 67 mines and artifacts such as the Sword of Hellfire.
