Pax Romana — RoE

Pax Romana is an extra large surface map set in the western Mediterranean, measuring 144 by 144 tiles, with no underground level. The player takes the role of Julius Caesar, whose aim is to conquer every land on the map by defeating rival commanders from across that era. Eight players share the field, split into four teams, with a single human seat and seven computer-controlled colors spread across the Castle, Rampart, Inferno, Fortress, Necropolis, Stronghold, Tower and Dungeon factions. Roughly half the terrain is grass, with water covering about a third and sand the rest. The map is rated Hard. Victory requires eliminating all enemies, while defeat follows the loss of one specific hero. Scattered across the land are 26 towns, 14 placed heroes, 93 mines, several artifact sets from the Legion armor series, and the Shackles of War.
