Paragon is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death, with underground levels and an Impossible difficulty rating. Eight players are placed on it, but only one seat is human and the other seven are computer-controlled, grouped into five teams. The factions in play include Castle, Rampart, Tower, Necropolis, Conflux, Dungeon, Stronghold and Fortress. According to the author's description, the story centers on a turning point where wars, dragon and mage schemes, and old prophecies build toward a great storm. Water covers about 22 percent of the terrain, with dirt, subterranean and grass ground making up much of the rest. The map includes 48 towns, 69 heroes, the Grail, 59 monoliths and portals, and artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade. Victory requires acquiring one specific artifact, and a player is defeated after losing all towns and heroes.
