Overlair is a large underground map measuring 108 by 108, played on Normal difficulty by up to eight human players, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Each of the eight kingdoms starts with a random faction and sits at roughly equal distance from the others, with the central fortress of Overlair positioned as the likely key to winning. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and a player is eliminated after losing all towns and heroes. Terrain is mostly rock, dirt and grass, with water covering about a sixth of the surface. The map holds ten towns, two starting heroes, and many guarded sites, including Vampire, Basilisk, Wyvern and Chaos Hydra stacks, plus five placed artifacts such as the Crown of the Supreme Magi and the Ring of Infinite Gems.
