The North-west Problem is a medium 72x72 map for Horn of the Abyss 1.7.2 or later, played on the surface at Normal difficulty. Three colours take part, with Green (Rampart) and Orange (Inferno) open to human players, while Pink (Conflux) is reserved for the computer. Teams are not used, and the map is won by capturing one specific town. A player loses once all their towns and heroes are gone. Water covers about 44 percent of the land, with highlands and snow making up most of the rest. Wandering monsters include Earth Elementals, Iron Golems and Vampire Lords, and the dwellings offer creatures ranging from Pegasi and Unicorns to Pit Fiends and Efreets. Players will find mines, creature banks and a seer hut, along with several powerful artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade and the Angelic Alliance.
