Nightmares — RoE

Nightmares is an extra large underground map for five players, with four human seats and one computer-only player in orange. It spans 144 by 144 tiles and is built mostly from grass, rock, snow and a modest share of water. Players start as Tower, Necropolis, Dungeon, and two random factions, with no fixed teams. Victory comes from defeating all enemies, while a player loses once every town and hero is gone. The map holds 14 towns and 10 starting heroes, along with 148 wandering monster stacks, 43 creature banks, 98 mines and 78 random artifacts. Named artifacts include Angel Wings, the Bird of Perception and the Golden Bow. Dwellings house a varied mix of creatures, from Swordsmen and Dwarves to Medusas and Behemoths. Timed events and monoliths add further structure to the play.
