Matrix is an Extra Large, 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death with an underground level, set at Impossible difficulty for eight players, with only one human seat and seven computer-controlled colors. The players form two teams. Factions include Inferno, Necropolis (twice), Fortress, Rampart, Castle, Tower and Dungeon. The author's description frames the story as a land overrun by death, where flight and teleportation have been cut off, and the hero must cross rough ground to find and destroy the hidden demon behind it all. Victory requires defeating a specific hero, and losing a specific hero ends the game. Rock, water and dirt cover most of the terrain, with some lava. The map holds 31 towns, 66 mines, a Grail, and many guarded artifacts, along with numerous wandering dragons and random monster stacks.
