The Last Hope of Northland is a large underground map of 108 by 108 tiles set at Impossible difficulty. Its story centers on Galtran, a lord of the dungeons whose Great Vampires threaten the northern kingdom, and the goal is to bring Galtran down and halt the invasion. Eight players share the map, with one human player at most and seven computer-controlled, arranged into six teams. The factions are Castle, Rampart, Stronghold, Tower, Inferno with Conflux, Dungeon, and Necropolis. Victory requires defeating one specific hero, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers about a third of the terrain and water a quarter. The map holds 22 towns, 44 mines, 20 seer huts, the Grail, and wandering Rust Dragons, Vampire Lords, and Ice Elementals.
