The First Werewolf Returned is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles for five players, at expert difficulty. Only one seat is human, and the four computer rivals play Tower, Rampart, Castle and Inferno, with the human on Fortress. There are no teams. Victory requires accumulating 100 creatures, and the player loses if a specific hero is defeated. The author's note says the player takes on Gerina, a new werewolf-class hero whose special skill is leading hydras, and hints that more werewolf heroes may follow. Rock covers nearly half the surface, with dirt, grass and a little water. The map holds 11 towns, 36 mines, 23 creature banks and 15 monoliths and portals, along with wandering Zombies and Ice Elementals and artifacts such as the Cards of Prophecy and the Crown of Dragontooth.
