On the Edge is an Extra Large underground map measuring 144 by 144 tiles. It supports eight players, all of whom can be human, with no teams and random factions for everyone. The difficulty is set to Impossible. The author's description presents the unexplored land as a place where dragons, unicorns, and phoenixes appear, and asks whether it is a dream or a fairy tale, while noting that no one is alone. Rock and subterranean ground make up most of the terrain, with water covering about a quarter of the map and grass a smaller share. The map holds 25 towns, and roaming groups include Diamond Golems, Phoenixes, and Azure Dragons. Notable artifacts such as Angel Wings and the Orb of the Firmament are placed across the map, and the Grail is present. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero.
