Forward, Vikings! is an extra large surface-only map set in Europe, drawing on the Viking raids of the Dark Ages, when European kings seized the chance to take their neighbors' lands. Six players share the 144 by 144 grid, with five slots open to humans and Purple reserved for the computer. The factions are Stronghold, Necropolis, Rampart, and Inferno, plus two Castle players. No teams are set, so everyone fights alone. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player is eliminated after losing every town and hero. Water covers just over half the map, and the land holds 35 towns, 57 mines, and 82 wandering monster stacks. Placed artifacts include the Sphere of Permanence and the Skull Helmet. The difficulty is Normal.
