Western Outpost is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles for Shadow of Death. Evil forces are advancing east, overrunning the forest folk's strongholds on their way toward the Archdruid's castle, and the knight Rudolf sets out for one such outpost to halt the spreading chaos. Six players take part, but only one seat can be human, and the other five are computer-controlled on Impossible difficulty. There are no teams. Factions include Inferno, Fortress, Dungeon, Tower, and Castle. Victory requires capturing a specific town, and a specific hero's loss ends the game. Rock, water, subterranean, and lava terrain dominate the land, with 16 towns, 39 mines, and 26 monoliths and portals.
