War for Peace is an Expert-difficulty map on an Extra Large 144 by 144 underground-capable field. Eight players can all be human, with no teams and no computer-only colors. According to the description, rulers return from negotiations to find the world on the edge of disaster after the deaths of several great kings, and they launch a lawless war in which only one side can hold the world. Factions in play include Castle, Rampart, Fortress, Conflux, Tower, Inferno, Stronghold, Dungeon and Necropolis, while the Pink player receives a random town. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player is eliminated after losing every town and hero. Rock covers about 40 percent of the land and water about 21 percent. The map contains 32 towns, 133 mines, 37 creature banks, 66 random artifacts, the Grail, and 11 monoliths and portals.
