War for the World is an Extra Large underground-enabled map for eight players, all of them human-capable and each starting with a Castle town and hero. There are no teams, and the map is rated Easy by its settings, though the author suggests playing it on Expert. Rock covers about half the terrain, with water making up roughly a third and grass a small share. Nine towns are spread across the continents, representing cities such as Moscow, New York, Berlin, Bombay, Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney and Cairo. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The map holds 64 mines, 21 timed events, and the Grail, along with several placed artifacts and dragon and elite dwellings. Wandering Sharpshooters are the most common roaming stacks.
