Overview
Written from the facts in this map's file
Set in Middle-earth, this Expert-difficulty Extra Large map measures 144 by 144 and includes an underground level. The Dark Lord Sauron gathers armies to destroy Minas Tirith, the last bastion of men, while the wizard Saruman attacks Rohan. Players choose whether to join the alliance of men and elves or serve Sauron's forces. Eight players, all of whom can be human, split into two teams and play as Stronghold, Castle, or Rampart. Victory requires transporting a specific artifact, and a player is eliminated by losing all towns and heroes. Rock covers about 39 percent of the terrain and water about 13 percent. Notable features include the Grail, 31 creature banks, 138 mines, and placed artifacts such as the Boots of Speed and the Bow of Elven Cherrywood.
