Brutal Joy is a medium 72 by 72 map for Shadow of Death with an underground level. The author's short, crude note boils down to the aim of defeating every rival. Up to four human players can take part, alongside a computer-controlled Pink player who uses the Dungeon faction. The other colors start with random factions, and there are no fixed teams. Water covers about 40 percent of the map, with subterranean, snow and lava terrain making up much of the rest. Expect 34 towns, 8 heroes, 67 mines, 41 randomly placed artifacts, and 39 monoliths and portals. An Azure Dragon guards a dwelling, and a Water Elemental roams the seas. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The difficulty is set to expert.
