The Dead and the Buried is a small underground map for Restoration of Erathia, measuring 36 by 36 tiles and set to hard difficulty. Three colors take part, but only one can be human-controlled. The Blue Dungeon and Green Necropolis players are computer-only, and the Red player receives a random faction. There are no teams. The author's note asks which of the two opposing sides the player would rather face first. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. Rock is the largest share of the terrain, with water, subterranean ground and grass also prominent. The map holds three towns, eighteen wandering monster stacks, six artifacts, eleven mines and one creature bank, plus Griffin, Skeleton and Troglodyte dwellings.
