Eight players can all be human, and no teams are set, so every faction plays for itself: Tower, Fortress, Rampart, Castle, Inferno, Stronghold, Necropolis, and Dungeon. The description portrays a vast landmass across a great ocean, where freshly appointed rulers race to claim its wealth. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses when every town and hero is gone. Expect 48 towns, 144 mines, and the Grail, plus placed artifacts such as the Sword of Judgement and the Sphere of Permanence. Water covers 20 percent of the terrain, with rock and rough ground also common.
