Lord Of This World — RoE

Lord Of This World is a medium underground map, 72 by 72, made for the Restoration of Erathia version of Heroes of Might and Magic III. Five colors take part, with four slots open to human players and Purple reserved for the computer. Every player fields the Inferno faction, and no teams are set. The map is roughly a third water, with the rest split among subterranean ground, rock and lava. Nine towns and one placed hero are on the field, and the wandering troops include Troglodytes, Imps, Manticores and Medusa Queens. The Lion's Shield of Courage is the one placed artifact, alongside many random ones. A player wins by defeating one specific hero, and loses by losing all towns and heroes. The author's description, drawn from a Black Sabbath lyric, frames the story as a campaign to defeat a heretic before striking the surface.
