Lizards Run is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles, built mostly from rock and water with a small share of grass. It is set up for four players, with one human seat and three computer-controlled colours, Red, Blue and Tan, while Green is also present. Teams are not used. Red and Blue start with random towns, Tan plays Stronghold and Green plays Fortress. To win, a player must defeat all enemies, and a player loses once every town and hero is gone. The map has seven towns and seven starting heroes, along with sixteen sprite stacks, obsidian gargoyles, enchanters and stone golems roaming the passages. Mines, dwellings holding orcs, hydras, wyverns and pixies, two seer huts and a creature bank are spread across the terrain, and the author describes the setting as a lizard king freeing his nation from evil lords.
