The Magic Realms is an Extra Large map measuring 144 by 144 tiles, with an underground level included. Eight players can take part, all of them human-controllable, and there are no teams. Each player begins with one of eight factions, from Tower to Rampart, and the difficulty is set to Normal. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while a player loses once all of their towns and heroes are gone. Water covers about 37 percent of the map, and grass, dirt and snow make up most of the remaining land. Wandering Titans, Minotaur Kings and several kinds of dragons roam the lands, and artifacts such as Armageddon's Blade and the Sphere of Permanence are placed across the map. The author describes the map as very large.
