Five players take part, with up to four controlled by humans and the Red player computer-only. There are no teams. Red fields Inferno and Necropolis, Tan has Stronghold, Green has Necropolis, Orange has Castle, and Teal has Tower. Victory requires capturing one specific town, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Rock and water each cover about 37 percent of the map. The map holds 15 towns, 34 mines, 12 monoliths and portals, and the Grail, along with artifacts such as the Shield of the Damned and the Helm of Chaos.
