The factions include Necropolis, Dungeon, Fortress, Stronghold, Castle, and Rampart, spread across the colors, with some players fielding two. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. Terrain is mostly grass and rock, with rough ground and snow, and water covers very little of the map. The map is scattered with 19 towns, 86 mines, 10 creature banks, and wandering stacks of ogres, zombies, earth elementals, and basilisks, along with a number of placed artifacts. The author's description frames it as five separate scenarios in one map, each with a different leader to choose from.
