Kingdom of Mirkwood (Rev. 4) is an extra large, 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death with an underground level. Eight players can take part, all of them human-capable, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Seven players start as Castle, while Teal plays Fortress and Pink plays Necropolis. The victory condition is to defeat all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The map is set in a realm whose king has died without an heir, now overrun by undead and by lizard, orc, and demon forces. Rock, water, and grass cover most of the surface, with subterranean tiles making up a smaller share. Players will find 31 towns, 18 heroes, 113 mines, and 70 creature banks, with wandering zombies, wraiths, and harpy hags among the frequent threats.

Author's description

The King died without an heir. The Undead have returned. The Kingdom - now a formality for the rivaling Houses of Men - is being looted by Lizards, Orcs and Demons, while the Forest Folk are leaving these once blessed, wealthy lands... Is there a leader who would return peace? Perhaps a true King?
