Japonia is a huge 180 by 180 map for Horn of the Abyss, created by Janusz Rasista and loosely based on Japan, as the author puts it. It has an underground level and is rated Hard. Seven players can take part, all of them human-controllable, with no teams and no computer-only colors. Red and Teal start as Castle, Teal also has access to Cove, and the remaining five players get random factions. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once all their towns and heroes are gone. Rock covers about half the terrain and water roughly 38 percent, with some rough ground. The map holds 17 towns, 16 starting heroes, and 45 mines, along with many guarded creature banks, five seer huts, and seven monoliths or portals. Wandering monsters are mostly nymphs, oceanids and water elementals, and a set of artifacts is scattered across the map.
