Island of Fortune. — SoD
Overview
Written from the facts in this map's file
Island of Fortune is a medium-sized, 72 by 72 map for four players, each able to be controlled by a human, with no teams and random factions for Red, Blue, Orange, and Purple. It includes an underground level and is rated Expert. Victory comes from defeating all enemies, while a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The map is built mostly from rock, with water covering about a fifth of its area and smaller stretches of grass and swamp. Each side starts with a hero and a town, and the board holds eight towns, along with wandering monster stacks, mines, artifacts scattered across the land, and the Grail. Eight monoliths and portals help move armies around, and a timed event adds pressure. The author describes an old legend that whoever holds the island of fortune could conquer the world, framing it as the first step toward that goal.
