Highlander is an extra large map of 144 by 144 tiles, with an underground level and a Normal difficulty setting. Eight players share the field, all of them able to be human, and no teams are set, so every side plays alone. The factions are Inferno for Red, Castle for Blue, Dungeon for Tan, Rampart for Green, Stronghold for Orange, Necropolis for Purple, Tower for Teal, and Fortress for Pink. Water covers about a third of the terrain, with grass making up most of the rest. Victory comes from defeating all enemies, and a player is out once every town and hero is lost. The map holds 29 towns, 13 placed heroes, and a Grail, with artifacts such as the Thunder Helmet and Boots of Speed scattered around. The author's description frames the map as a final struggle in which only one side survives.
