Today and Forever is an extra-large, 144 by 144 map for the In the Wake of Gods version, with an underground level and an Impossible difficulty setting. The author presents it as a farewell to Heroes III before the series moves on to Heroes V. Eight players, all of whom can be human, each start with a different faction: Castle, Dungeon, Conflux, Fortress (twice), Stronghold, Necropolis, and Rampart. There are no teams. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The map holds 30 towns and 18 pre-placed heroes. Subterranean ground covers about a third of the map, with grass, swamp, and water making up much of the rest. Notable finds include the Amulet of the Undertaker, the Elixir of Life, and the Endless Purse of Gold, along with 28 monoliths and portals and 55 creature banks.
