Guscle Swamps is a medium underground map measuring 72 by 72 tiles, played with three players, two of whom can be human, and two teams. The Blue player fields a Castle, the Green player a Rampart, and a computer-only Tan player plays a Fortress. Rock covers the largest share of the terrain, followed by grass, water and swamp. The victory condition is to defeat all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The author invites the player to take either the attacking Castle side or the defending Rampart side, noting that each has its own strengths and weaknesses. The map holds six towns, five placed heroes, 23 mines, 18 seer huts and 25 monoliths and portals. Artifacts such as the Golden Bow and the Ring of Infinite Gems are scattered about, along with the Grail, and two Dwarf stacks and a Vampire Lord roam the map.
