Former Random is an Extra Large 144 by 144 map for Shadow of Death, with an underground level, and it was generated by a random map tool rather than designed by hand. Four players take part. Only one seat is human, and the other three, in blue, tan and green, are computer-controlled. There are no teams. Red, Blue and Green play Fortress, while Tan plays Tower. Rock covers about 42 percent of the land, water 26 percent and swamp 15 percent. The map has six towns, nine heroes, 24 mines, 10 seer huts and 84 creature banks, plus 63 random artifacts and named pieces such as the Cards of Prophecy and the Pendant of Free Will. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. Difficulty is Normal.
