Forbidden Valley is a medium underground map of 72 by 72 tiles, built for the Restoration of Erathia version and rated Expert. It supports five players, with up to two humans and three computer-only colors, grouped into four teams. The factions in play are Stronghold, Castle, Rampart and Necropolis. The story centers on the lich Ahltax-Drur, long sealed in a valley, and on Strongholds that have been corrupted and want to free him. Victory requires defeating one specific hero, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Rock, subterranean ground, grass and water make up most of the terrain. Notable features include two Gold Dragon stacks, two Archangel stacks, a collection of artifacts such as the Titan's Gladius and Sword of Judgement, and fifty-three mines.
