Flotilla is a medium-sized underground map measuring 72 by 72 tiles, rated hard and built for five players, with three slots open to humans and two reserved for the computer. Players are split into two teams. The factions are random for the Red and Tan players, Rampart for Blue, Tower for Green, and Stronghold for Orange. Victory comes from defeating every enemy, and a player falls once all of their towns and heroes are lost. Roughly 29 percent of the map is water, with rock covering most of the rest, so the sea routes and tunnels shape nearly every move. Scattered across the islands are wandering stacks of hell hounds, water elementals, gogs, and genies, along with several dwellings and placed artifacts such as the Shield of the Damned and the Orb of Tempestuous Fire.
