FIFA WORLD CUP 2006 — WoG

This map is themed around the 2006 football World Cup. The author sets up a group stage with Brazil, Croatia, Australia and Japan and asks which side is the obvious qualifier. It is an Extra Large surface map of 144 by 144 tiles, played at Expert difficulty by four players, all of whom may be human. There are no teams, and each colour gets a random faction. Snow covers about 70 percent of the land, with smaller shares of grass, subterranean and rock terrain and roughly 5 percent water. Victory requires acquiring a specific artifact, the Sphere of Permanence, and a player is defeated after losing all towns and heroes. The map holds eight towns, seven starting heroes, 43 mines, 48 seer huts, 29 creature banks and 28 monoliths and portals, and Sea Dog stacks are the most common wandering monsters.
