Europe. World War II is an extra large 144 by 144 map with an underground level, rated Expert. It supports eight players, up to seven of them human, with Pink reserved for the computer. Three teams compete, and the factions include Stronghold, Necropolis, Castle, Rampart, Inferno, Conflux and Tower. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once all towns and heroes are gone. Rock covers nearly half the terrain and water 28 percent. The map holds 37 towns, seven starting heroes, 57 mines, 50 random artifacts, placed relics such as the Orb of the Firmament, and ten creature banks. The author's note describes a war that never ends, begun when one tyrant set out to destroy whole peoples.
