Equilibrium is a medium 72 by 72 map for Shadow of Death, with an underground level and a difficulty setting of Impossible. Six players are placed, but only four can be human; the Orange and Purple seats are reserved for the computer and there are no fixed teams. Red, Blue, Tan and Green receive random factions, Orange plays Tower and Purple plays Stronghold. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once all towns and heroes are gone. Water covers about 38 percent of the surface, with rough ground, dirt and sand making up most of the rest. The map holds nine towns and two starting heroes, along with 87 mines and ten creature banks. Scattered guardians include Azure and Crystal dragons, Behemoths, and stacks of Hell Hounds and Iron Golems. Placed artifacts include the Boots of Speed and several sets of armor, and the Grail is present.
